The test car wears a lot of camouflage, but we can notice that it’s almost identical to the standard model, with slightly changes on its front grille and rear fascia. It appears to be painted in black with white-contrast side mirrors and roof. We know that the 2017 Mini Countryman Plug-In Hybrid will ride on the new UKL platform, just like the standard model.

As for the interior, the word is that the 2017 Mini Countryman Plug-In Hybrid will be slightly redesigned and will have more space, so passengers can enjoy a relaxed and comfortable ride. Cabin of the test model was also covered in camouflage. However, in the photo below you can notice some details. It appears that a speedometer behind a steering wheel has been replaced by a new rev counter. Next to it is a large round center piece with an infotainment screen flanked by rectangular air vents. Many buttons and switches can be found below it. You can also notice the iDrive knob in the center console.


Possible Engine Options, Specs

Nothing has been confirmed, but it appears that the 2017 Mini Countryman Plug-In Hybrid will come with several engine options. The rear axle will be powered by an electric motor, getting its power from a Li-ion battery and producing 80-90 horses, while the front wheels will be powered by a turbocharged 1.5L inline-3 petrol engine delivering about 110 horsepower. A total output could be more than 200 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. Other engine options may include a 136-hp 2.0L inline-4 turbo engine with a 102-hp electric motor, delivering a total of 240 horses and 295 pound-feet of torque. Expected drive range on electricity alone is about 20 miles, while the fuel economy is estimated at 40 miles per gallon.

Price and Release Date

When it comes to its price, the new 2017 Mini Countryman Plug-In Hybrid will most likely cost between $27,000 and $30,000, no more than that. We will know the exact pricing closer to its release date, which will occur during 2016. The car is expected to be presented to the wider audience by the end of 2015 or in early 2016.
