Lamborghini will release the 2017 Lamborghini Urus, an SUV based on the concept unveiled in 2012, sometime in 2016, which is quite unusual for this carmaker. Let’s see what can we expect from the upcoming vehicle.
Engine, Specs, Performance
According to some reports, the 2017 Lamborghini Urus will be powered by a twin-boosted 4.0L V-8 engine that will, reportedly, be able to deliver more than 600 horsepower and about 700 lb-ft of torque. We think these are just rumors, so take it with a grain of salt. Anyway, this power unit will transfer its power to the all wheels via an automatic dual-clutch gearbox. The SUV is going to feature an enhanced traction control system as well.
2017 Lamborghini Urus Concept Design
The 2017 Lamborghini Urus SUV will most likely ride on the big 24-inch 5-spoke aluminum matte wheels, just like the concept. Its body is characterized by rounded edges, which is quite unusual. We all got used to see sharp edges on the Lambo vehicles, while this vehicle is something different. Only front fascia with large air intakes on the bumper and its Y-shaped headlights resemble other models, such as Huracan or Aventador. Viewed from the side, you will notice that the roof slowly descends toward the rear of the car. At its end, there is a small roof spoiler. The rear end also looks cool with its stylish taillights, wide bumper and four exhaust tips. Behind the front wheels there are small outlets. Rear fenders are bulkier than those found in the front.
Inside, there is enough space for only four passengers, including driver. Those people who had the chance to sit in the concept said that it is very comfy. Cabin of the 2017 Lamborghini Urus SUV will be built using the lightweight materials, like polymer and carbon fiber. As you can see from the photo, the concept’s interior is characterized by its futuristic look. However, there is a high chance that the production model will receive a redesigned interior. Buttons on the steering wheel are used for turning on and off headlights, turn signals and wipers. There’s also a digital display on the center console that allows you to control other functions.
Urus Release Date, Price Tag
The 2017 Lamborghini Urus based on the concept shown in the images above will most likely be released in 2016. Some sources even claim that they know the SUV’s price. According to them, it will be priced at €170,000 (that is more than $211,390). Remember, these are just rumors. More details will be known in the near future.
Update: The latest report claims that Lamborghini won’t be making the Urus in Italy. Instead, it is going to be build in Volkswagen‘s plant in Slovakia. This is a good choice because this factory already has experience with the production of SUVs.
