The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor, Americas best off-road truck, has been re-engineered to make it more smarter, tougher, efficient and more capable than ever. This iconic machine is already promising to steer the unique tradition of prestigious trucks in its segment. From its sleeker looks, to the advance technology, to its performance, Raptor will always be on the cutting edge. Here are just some of the expected changes.


Exterior and Interior Design

The exterior design of this exclusive vehicle is all about projecting the image. It will be 6 inches wider than the previous model. The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor is expected to come with a standard four wheel drive, new chassis, ambiance LED lighting, unique fenders to provide a bulky, rugged and masculine look, a signature grille with FORD printed in big letters and many other numerous off road features. The truck will be made from high strength, military grade aluminum alloy which cuts over 500 pounds of weight. This supportive steel frame allows it to jump and craw the worst terrains. This has significantly helped to improve its performance and capability. The 17-inch wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich tires for all terrains and 3-color material levels are features specifically designed for Raptor.

The interior design of the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor is all about creating a comfortable place for the driver and passengers during the drive. Some of the expected features are an 8-inch color display sensitive to touches, which is used to show various details, for navigation and MyFord infotainment system; multifunction steering wheel with radio controls, two cup holders in the center stack, etc. It will also come with a 360-degree camera, imposing tailgate, paddle shifters, terrain management system for optimizing the driving dynamics, the FOX Racing Shox are some of the expected interior features. The truck is going to be available in two cab configurations, each with a different wheel base.


The Raptor will come with 6 modes to help it efficiently maneuver on any terrain and driving conditions. These modes include:
– Normal mode
– Street mode (high performance on road driving)
– Weather mode (ice, rain, snow)
– Sand and Mud Mode (sandy and muddy trails and terrains)
– Baja mode (desert running)
– Rock mode (low speed rock crawling).
A new transfer case will be designed to work as a full time unit for the various off road applications and also as a locking unit. A Torsen front differential will also be available.


Engine, Specs, Performance

The 3.5L EcoBoost engine is expected to power the new 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor. This engine will have 6 cylinders, configured in vee style and fed by turbochargers and direct injection. The engine is expected to produce at least 450 horsepower. This engine will be more efficient than its current 6.2-liter V-8, which is rated at 411 hp and 434 lb-ft of torque. It will be paired with a 10-speed gearbox to improve efficiency. The paddle shifter will in the drivers cockpit will help maneuver this transmission system.

The next-generation 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor was presented at various 2015 Auto Shows – in New York, Detroit, Cleveland, Houston, Dallas, Toronto. The vehicle is set to reach the market in the last quarter of 2016. When it comes to the pricing, this prestigious machine is expected to go on sale for somewhere between $46,000 and $50,000. It is gonna definitely take the top sales position in in the trucks segment worldwide. It is created to be the best among the very best.
