The 2016 Nissan Titan XD is a fully redesigned heavy-duty pickup truck, powered by a powerful Cummins engine. It was presented at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show and is scheduled to go on sale in late 2015. If you are interested in the upcoming model, you should keep reading this article to learn all the details.
2016 Nissan Titan XD Design
The facelifted model has a short but bulky front end, with a wide bumper and massive chrome grille, positioned between LED headlights with daytime running lamps. The length of the 2016 Nissan Titan XD depends on whether you choose Crew Cab, Single Cab or King Cab configuration. Although it comes with a choice of 17-, 18-, or 20-inch alloy wheels wrapped in LT-series all-weather tires, the truck has large fenders, quite elevated from the ground. Between them, you can notice extended running boards, that will help you to easily enter inside or to access the cargo bed. Around back, between the LED taillights is a stylized tailgate with integrated spoiler on its top. The cargo bed has additional LED lights, allowing you to find items during nights. The Titan XD will be available in the following color options: Forged Copper, Magnetic Black, Cayenne Red, Pearl White, Deep Blue Pearl, with more color to arrive later.
The new luxury interior is quite improved compared to the outgoing model. The most of the cabin is covered in stitched premium leather, while in some places wood accents can be found. Two-tone perforated seats are comfortable and can be heated or cooled. Shifter has been moved to the right of the steering wheel, leaving more space for the cup holders in the already big center console. There’s also a 7.0-inch color display with navigation and apps, surrounded by bunch of cleverly arranged controls, grouped by function type and importance. The 2016 Nissan Titan XD has several power outlets and modern connective technology. Behind the steering wheel is a 5-inch color display, showing important info, surrounded by two gauges. A 12-speaker audio system from Rockford Fosgate is also available.
Engine, Performance, MPG
Now, let’s see what can we find under the truck’s hood. The 2016 Nissan Titan XD is going to be powered by a turbocharged 5.0L DOHC V-8 diesel engine from Cummins, which is rated at 310 horsepower and 555 lb-ft of torque, paired with a bespoke 6-speed automatic transmission from Aisin Seiki. The Titan will be offered in both the rear-wheel and 4WD configurations. Fuel economy ratings will be revealed at a later date, but Nissan claims that fuel economy has been improved with the Cummins engine. It also allows for a greater towing power (12,000 pounds). Estimated top speed is 125 mph.
Titan XD Release Date, Price
The 2016 Nissan Titan XD was introduced at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show. It is said to be released by the end of the year, while the base, non-XD model will go on sale in early 2016. Prices of these two pickup trucks are not currently known and will be announced later. By my rough estimate, the price tag of the high-duty variant could be between $35,000 and $40,000.
