2016 Mercedes-AMG GT Design
Both 2016 Mercedes-AMG GT and GT S models were wholly designed by AMG division. It is a successor to the SLS AMG model, and these two models share many similarities when it comes to the exterior design. The GT looks low and wide. It has a long front end with long sculpted hood, wide diamond grille, distinctive bumper with large air intakes and small splitter, nice-looking LED headlights with daytime running lights above them and high-beam reflectors below. The greenhouse is closer to the rear end, which comes with a small rear wing, flat taillights, diffuser insert with a pair of integrated exhaust tips, and trunk lid with rear glass.
Interior of the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT 2016 follows the so-called aviation design theme. The coupe has a large center console with an automatic shifter and eight round buttons lined up to resemble the engine cylinders. Above it you can notice four air vents and a 7-inch touchscreen color display. A three-spoke wheel has additional controls, behind it is another TFT info display and two standard gauges. The seats, dashboard, center console and door panels are covered in high-quality Nappa leather, which is standard on all models. The Burmester sound system is also offered as standard equipment. Mercedes-Benz also implemented a range of advanced safety technologies.
Engine, Specs, Performance
The base 2016 Mercedes-AMG GT is powered by a 4.0L V-8 twin-turbo engine developed by AMG that can generate 456 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. In a combination with a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox driving the rear axle, this power unit allows the car to sprint from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 3.9 seconds, while its max speed is 189 mph (about 304 km/h). The same gearbox and biturbo engine are used in the GT S model, but this one produces 503 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque, allowing the car to reach the speed of 60 mph in 3.7 seconds. Its top speed is rated at 193 mph (about 310 km/h).
