Kia has managed to build a really good reputation in the US as one of the most reliable car manufacturers. The 2016 Kia Forte will be one of the best cars in the compact class, offering not only an excellent pair of engines, but more space inside the car than most of its competition in this class. It is expected to go on sale by the end of this year.
Interior and Exterior Design
Inside the car things are well sorted out. The new Kia Forte 2016 will offer a comfortable big interior with enough legroom and headroom in the front as well as in the back. The seats are nice and soft enough to make you think that the materials are much better quality than they really are. The standard equipment includes electric windows, a small infotainment system and air conditioning. The top end models will get satellite navigation, leather upholstery, and a sunroof which is rare in this class. If you somehow come across a collision or any sort of accident and air bags are deployed, Kia’s next generation UVO system leverages your Bluetooth connected smartphone to automatically call a preset emergency number.
The body of the 2016 Kia Forte isn’t as impressive as the interior. The general design of the hatchback is mostly identical to the 2014 model. It is sporty and straight forward. Changes include daytime running lights, which are standard on some models. Also, Xenon lighting for all models is now available. The automaker will also add a few features to the range, mostly cosmetic improvements, which are supposed to make it even better than it is now. In case you come across the unthinkable, don’t worry. Kia has thought of everything, from an advanced air bag system, to new innovation like the front active head rest, they made sure that the passengers have a comfortable and safe journey.
Engine, Specs, Performance
In the upcoming 2016 Kia Forte, under the hood you can find one of two engines. The base version of the car will comes with a 1.8L inline-4 unit, which can produce up to 148 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque. A 6-speed manual gearbox comes with this engine as standard, but there is also a 6-speed automatic as optional. The other engine is a little bit bigger, it’s a 2.0-liter powertrain capable of producing around 173 horsepower, but this one doesn’t come with a manual gearbox, which some people might consider as a oversight by the car makers. Both of these engines will get around 26 mpg on average drive and both of them will be able to go over 130 miles per hour, which is quite fast. With just 6.3 seconds of 0-to-60 mph sprint, the 2.0-liter engine has the shortest sprint time in its class. A turbocharged option is not available for now, but in the next couple of years it will come for sure.
2016 Kia Forte Price, Sale Date
The price for the base model will most likely be just under $16,000 and that is pretty much unbeatable as far as the prices in this class go. The base 2016 Kia Forte offers quite a nice equipment level and the 10 year warranty for the engine and transmission. The new hatchback will be available for sale at the end of 2015 or early 2016. Stay tuned for more details as the official release date gets close.
