The 2016 Ford Escape is going to receive many exterior and interior updates, in order to remain company’s best-selling crossover. The first-generation model has first been presented in 2000. Over the years, it has increased its sales and popularity. That is the reason why Ford wants to release a revised edition of this crossover. The fourth-generation model will have a design similar to the older models, but with a more aggressive approach to its look and more refined lines. To improve its performance, the people from Ford will also make some mechanical changes.
Exterior and Interior Changes
The new 2016 Ford Escape will be redesigned in the form of a modern sports utility vehicle. The automaker will equip it with an attractive exterior design made from the materials of the highest quality and good aerodynamics, the features will also be improved. First of all, there will be a slim three part front grille with thick chrome strips and sharp functional headlights which will give the car an aggressive look. A new chrome roof rack will be installed on the roof together with a roof spoiler with light signals in it. Like any other modern day vehicle, the upcoming model will come with LED running lights on its rear. There will also be two large chrome exhaust pipes. Some rumors say that the new Escape will be based on a similar platform as the Ford C MAX.
As far as the interior goes, the 2016 Ford Escape will come with numerous standard and optional features. High quality materials in upholstering will be used inside the cabin. Instrument cluster will also get many changes. For the car’s systems it will feature various visual multi-functional control gadgets at its center console. Other control features will be located on the steering wheel and some in the front of the driver. There will be a background camera whose shots will be transferred to a large LCD screen. Safety features such as airbags, ABS, traction control, stability control and active parking assist will be available. Other standard features include a digital speedometer, a touchscreen with GPS navigation system, air conditioning, tilt and telescopic steering wheel and Sony’s superior 10-speaker audio system.
Engine, Specs, Performance
The 2016 Ford Escape is rumored to come with 3 types of engines. For the base model, there will be a 2.4L EcoBoost I-4 engine with the ability to produce around 168 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque. Higher end models will come with a turbocharged 1.6L unit that will be able to deliver 178 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. The modes powerful 2.0-liter turbocharged engine will have the capability to produce up to 240 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of twist. All three engines are expected to come with at least 6-speed automatic transmission.
2016 Ford Escape Release Date
According to the manufacturer, the SUV will remain unchanged until 2016, when they will release the redesigned 2016 Ford Escape with a changed front grille and other exterior upgrades. We can expect that its price range will be similar to its predecessor’s and that it will cost between $23,000 and 34,000 US dollars. The company also have plans to release another updated model by the end of 2017 for the 2018 model year. The 2018 variant will introduce a 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine and 9-speed automatic transmission.
