Exterior and Interior Design
Nearly nine years after it first debuted, the 2016 Audi A5 will finally get a complete redesign. It’s gonna be based on the Volkswagen MLB Evo architecture, which will also be used in the car’s bigger siblings the A6 and A8. The front of the car will come with innovative lighting featuring LED or matrix technology, that will highlight the new futuristic look. It will also have a new redesigned and larger grille. The significantly bigger air intakes will look very interesting on this car.
Thanks to the use of more aluminum, this new platform allows the car to be over 200 pounds lighter than its predecessor and stiffer. This fact also implies a number of other benefits such as fuel efficiency and lower CO2 emissions. The car will also have a longer wheelbase which brings more passenger room, optional 20-inch rims, and carbon-ceramic brakes.
The 2016 Audi A5 will have a redesigned cabin for increased ergonomics, comfort and safety. Interior features include a panoramic sunroof, tri-zone automatic climate control, an MMI infotainment system with a 6.5-inch touch display and Bluetooth phone connectivity. On the right side of the steering wheel will be a large display with numerous functions, as well as audio device with up to 10 speakers. The coupe version has over 12.2 cubic feet of trunk space, while the convertible version will have 10.2. All seats are going to have leather upholstery. The standard equipment include air conditioning, power moonroof, leather telescoping steering wheel, airbags on all sides, trip computer. You can add navigation, but it won’t be in the basic package.
