Toyota is known for their pickups and SUVs. These vehicles are one of the best in their lineup and among top sellers, all around the world, not just in the Asian market. The company has recently released three different vehicles, but under one series – 2015 Toyota TRD Pro Series. These three vehicles are Tundra, Tacoma and 4Runner. This series is inspired by the technology that Toyota used in their Desert Race Truck, that has won the Baja 1000 competition. These vehicles are meant to do practically anything – from towing heavy cargo to racing through desert dunes.
Exterior and Interior Design
When it comes to the exterior, all three vehicles from the 2015 Toyota TRD Pro Series have been improved and there have been some changes. Some of the changes can be seen at the first look, while some changes have been done on the mechanical part of the vehicles. First thing you will notice on the outside of every vehicle in this lineup is the “TRD Pro” branding. The Japanese manufacturer wanted everyone to know that every vehicle from this series is special, so they have incorporated this branding throughout the whole exterior of all three cars.
Furthermore, all three vehicles are painted in special fire-orange color, called Inferno (Black and White are other two colors available), except for the slightly revised Tundra which participated at the 47th Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 race, which features some nice graphics. On the front, new Toyota TRD Pro grille is used, and 16-, 17- or 18-inch off road wheels are also available wrapped in Michelin, Nitto Terra Grappler or BFGoodrich tires. Other, mechanical changes to series include dual exhaust system, Bilstein Shocks with remote reservoirs, front springs that are tuned, and aluminum front skid plate.
The Japanese manufacturer really worked on the interior of all three vehicles that are part of the 2015 Toyota TRD Pro Series. When it comes to its branding, it is used throughout the whole interior. The idea is to make the owner of this vehicle feel special in this limited edition vehicles. The interesting thing in the interior is that Toyota designed two different shift knobs, depending on the transmission of the vehicle – there is a sleek knob for automatic transmission, while for the automatic transmission is used a perfectly round knob. Furthermore, every vehicle has its own custom carpet floor mats with the name of the vehicle and TRD Pro branding.
Engine, Specs, Performance
The Japanese manufacturer decided to use a standard engine and one of the biggest complaints of the whole 2015 Toyota TRD Pro Series is that the engine has remained intact – there was no improvements, there was not tuning, which is a real unpleasant surprise, because we believe that the potential customers expected more. The engine used in the series is 4.0-liter V-6 that produces around 270 horsepower and 278 lb-ft of torque. All vehicles from the lineup will be offered with a 5-speed automatic transmission, while a manual transmission will be optional. Only Tundra Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 has an improved unit, and that is a 5.7L V-8 that can deliver 381 hp and 401 lb-ft of twist, paired with a 6-speed automatic.
2015 Toyota TRD Pro Series Prices
