The 2015 Peugeot 308 GT is a medium to high performance version of the base car and the warming up for the upcoming R model which is going to be even more powerful than this one. The base model managed to sell very well and it even outsold the Golf in certain countries which is the first time ever in quite some time. The company managed to do it thanks to the car’s bold design, great quality over its predecessors as well as its great engines. We think that this new model will also be very popular.
Exterior and Interior Design
Just like with the other hot hatches out there, the 2015 Peugeot 308 GT is going to be based on the normal model. However, the suspension is going to be tuned in order to offer the best possible feedback while the chassis will be tighter and it will be a lot more resistant to torque thanks to a few tweaks Peugeot did to it. The exterior is going to be quite a big upgrade over the base model. While the upgrades aren’t going to be as flashy as those on some of its competitors, like the Focus ST, these are certainly going to be noticed by someone looking for them. The front and rear bumpers are now cleaner and offer slightly bigger air intakes as well as a small splitter and diffuser while on the sides the car looks to be lower with a set of side skirts. Unlike the base model, the GT will sit on unique 18-inch wheels with high performance tires which are needed because under its hood there are two of the greatest engines out there.
Inside, things are going to be pretty familiar for any 308 owner and quite nice for everybody else. The 2015 Peugeot 308 GT is going to be similar in equipment and design to the higher end 308, meaning that things such as a leather wrapped steering wheel, the great infotainment system or even the navigation unit are going to be standard. Options are going to include sport seats, a bigger infotainment unit, satellite navigation or even custom stitching for the seats.
Engine, Specs, Performance
The 2015 Peugeot 308 GT is going to be available with two different engines, a petrol one and a diesel. The 1.6L petrol engine is an Inline-4 turbocharged unit which is good for 205 horsepower and 285 Nm (210 lb-ft) of torque. With the help of a 6-speed manual, it should be good to get the car to 60 mph in less than 7 seconds and up to a maximum top speed of well over 130 mph, all while consuming as little as 5.5 liters of fuel per 100 km. The other choice which is the more sensible – a 2.0L diesel engine which even though doesn’t sound as impressive, it should suit the car a lot better. This one can deliver 180 horsepower and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque, which should give an even better acceleration largely thanks to its better and smoother 6-speed automatic gearbox.
2015 Peugeot 308 GT Release Date, Price
The release date has been set in the mid of 2015 for most of Europe while the base price should hover around €29,000 which is right where the Golf GTi is. In the UK the 2015 Peugeot 308 GT has a starting price of £24,095.
