The 2015 Lamborghini Asterion LPI 910-4 Concept is the automaker’s first plug-in hybrid supercar. It was unveiled at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. Unfortunately, it won’t make into production.
2015 Lamborghini Asterion LPI 910-4 Concept
If you ask me, the 2015 Lamborghini Asterion LPI 910-4 Concept is one of the most beautiful vehicles made by this Italian automaker. I don’t say that other supercars are ugly, but this model does not have that standard Lambo look, and that’s why I like it. It is painted in beautiful Blue Elektra color. The car’s body is characterized by clear lines and smooth and curved edges. The whole front end is made as a single component, it is very smooth giving the car elegant look. The front bumper has large air intakes, made of a double-layered grid for improved flow of the air. The LED headlights are surrounded by titanium and forged carbon. Around the back, the Asterion features a lifted rear end, thin T-shaped stop lights, a transparent engine cover made of three hexagonal glasses, and a big diffuser with four exhaust tips, one pair on each side. The car rides on 20- and 21-inch wheels wrapped in Pirelli tires.
Elegant Interior Design
As you can see in the photo below, interior of the 2015 Lamborghini Asterion LPI 910-4 Hybrid Concept is also very elegant and modern. Cream colors prevail with elements of brown, mostly on the leather seats. There are only two seats, and both are very comfortable. The center console is made of aluminum and carbon-fiber materials, and features a removable touch display. This tablet device allows the driver to control the infotainment system, GPS navigation and climate. The multifunctional steering wheel can be used for selection of driving modes – Zero, Hybrid and Thermal mode.
Hybrid Engine, Specs, Performance
The 2015 Lamborghini Asterion LPI 910-4 concept is powered by a combination of a naturally aspirated 5.2-liter 610-hp V-10 petrol engine and three electric motors. This hybrid system can deliver up to 910 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of twist. All the power is transferred via a dual-clutch 7-speed transmission to the all wheels. Electric motors are charged using the Li-ion batteries, allowing the car to travel up to 50 kilometers (31 miles) on electric power only. Top speed of this hybrid supercar is 320 km/h, which is almost 200 miles per hour. It can reach the speed of 100 km/h (about 62 mph) in exactly 3 seconds. As for the fuel efficiency, the Asterion is rated at 56 mpg, consuming only 4.2 liters of gasoline per 100 km. The car releases 98 grams of CO2 gases per kilometer.
Lambo Asterion Release Date
According to the company’s CEO, Stephan Winkelmann, the 2015 Lamborghini Asterion LPI 910-4 hybrid will not make it into production. Winkelmann thinks that hybrid technology is not something the company wants to devote their time and money to produce. That’s too bad, because I personally think this is one of the most beautiful Lambos ever made.
